MS SQL 2025 Express Edition Capacity Limit Increased (50GB)

Dear Customers,

We are pleased to announce that Microsoft SQL Server 2025 Express Edition has increased its database size limit from 10GB to 50GB. Both BASSnet 2.11 and BASSnet Neo have been verified to support MS SQL Server 2025, including the expanded capacity in the Express Edition.

Do note that while SQL Server Express now supports a larger capacity, our data store designs will continue to focus on an optimized size and structure. Maintaining an optimized size remains critical, as oversized databases may impact replication performance and overall system responsiveness.

Data Management in BASSnet

The following are some of the methods BASSnet uses to manage data in the database:

  • Image Handling
    • Image resolution in RTFs are re-rasterized and compressed for better storage efficiency.
    • In BASSnet Neo, images are extracted from the HTML rich text and stored in the document cache.
  • File-Size Control
    • Configurable file-size control ensures better management of storage and data replication.
